Tagging Issue In Mavericks

Just a really quick question. Anything I tagged on my ML partition - Red, Yellow, etc. doesn't show up as tagged on the sidebar in Mavericks. Does it only work if you tag files from _within_ Mavericks? If so, do you think everyone will need to re-tag all their folders when they upgrade. I hope this hasn't been answered before, but a search hasn't shown any results...

They should show up in the sidebar, unless you've disabled spotlight on that specific volume? It seems like the case since you couldn't find them through spotlight either.
