The Amazon deal is great for many people. At $799, you can not beat this laptop for college, office work, and every day computing. I have the base M2 MBA, and it is the best computer I have ever owned.

However, my daughter is going to do the Apple college discount program instead. Pay $899 and get free AirPods, since her's are broken. Also, she goes to school in Boston, so apparently, there is are sales tax on the weekends.

Sweet deals for someone who needs a fantastic general purpose laptop.

I need (want) 1-2TB so I'm passing for now but these deals have me hovering over the buy button - even though my M1Pro and M3 Air basically don't break a sweat with anything that I throw at them.

Will this M4 MacBook Air do the job for simple and occasional video editing? I have a 2019 MBP and it’s starting to slow down.

Mostly it gets used for word, email, excel, buying stuff online. But when I need it to, I’d like to be able to put simple videos together using Final Cut Pro.

Sounds like you don't really need a new laptop, you're just caught in the consumer vortex of buying anything they put in front of your face. Good luck.

Yeah, I'm with ya there

I got an M2 Air just last year and it's still going to be just fine for me too

Mostly true... I won't deny it. My M1Pro is my business machine / workhorse and I'll probably use it until it wears out. The M3 Air is a secondary machine that I use for personal stuff. It bugs me that I can't run 2x Studio displays and keep the laptop open to use TouchID. That's my cue to go M4.😈

I do sell my used stuff to offset upgrade costs and at this price I can probably do the swap for ~$200. I am blessed to have the disposable income for that and, well, shiny new, shiny new!

In defense of not buying everything they put in my face - I don't (yet) have a Vision Pro, iPhone 16, M4 iPad Pro, although I pretty much do own one of everything else they make...

I'm guessing that Apple Intelligence will eventually push us into wanting a machine with beefier specifications. We're a ways off from that.
