Unfortunately, the iPhone 5 can't take a full-res snapshot while recording video - that is, the lack of it isn't a big problem (should the iPt 5 lack it, that is). There are some iOS-based tools that let for extracting a frame from your video after shooting it.

It is listed as a feature, unless you meant it will take a lower res snapshot?

Yup, it's 1080p-res (2 Mpixels at 16:9) only and not 8 Mpixels.
