I'm on an older Intel 2017 iMac, Ventura. When I take a screen shot, it shows up in the lower right of the screen for about 6 seconds, then moves to the upper right (or elsewhere) on the screen. During the 6 seconds it's lower right, you can't 'do anything' with it, the "tools" drop down is unavailable. If you want to adjust levels or crop, etc, you have to wait those 6 seconds. It didn't use to do this, up until approx. Big Sur or Monterey. Does this happen on the newer M macs? Am I the only one bothered by it? Seems pointless.

Thanks, but the link you included only refers to Screen RECORDINGS, not screenshots.(Cmd shift 5) I've poked around, couldn't find that 'delay' setting as it relates to screen Shots. (Cmd shift 4). and in the recording options,
the 'delay' is set to zero
