will restoring my iPod touch in iTunes get rid of crappy iOS4 from my iPod touch.

This thing has been draining my battery, has no good features for older model iPods, and I think it also lowered my iPod's capacity. wtf.

Restoring it wouldn't, no; as far as I know, short of jailbreaking, there is no way to downgrade iDevices.

um, jailbreaking doesn't have anything to do with downgrading. So what you do, (im assuming you want to go back to 3.1.3) is go to youtube or google and search downgrade ipod touch 2g to 3.1.3. basically they will probably give you a link to the site where you can download the 3.1.3 firmware. Once its downloaded you will have to plug your ipod into itunes and right click on the restore button. It will then bring up your finder and you can find the 3.1.3 firmware file you downloaded. choose that and it will restore your ipod to 3.1.3! hope this helps!
