So ive had the series 1 FOREVER! Of course we have bought several series since but I made an appointment to see if I can get the screen fixed and the battery changed. Just out of curiosity (I know a few of you work/have worked there) will they be able to fix these things? The rep was nice online but couldn't tell me much.

Not an Apple employee, but my understanding is that your device can be serviced as long as it is not considered obsolete by Apple (7 years after being discontinued). AW series 1 is vintage but not obsolete, so you may be able to replace hardware parts

Usually, Apple doesn't repair Apple Watches. Even if you take one for a straight battery replacement, they'll just swap it for a refurb unit if they have available. Given that it is a vintage product, they may not have in store, so you might have to wait a couple of days. Not sure how high the service fee will be tough, it might not be worth it.

I would just tell them you want a battery replacement and not mention the screen. As @JCCL stated they replace the unit with a refurbished one so you'll basically get a like new watch.. They might try to steer you towards purchasing a new watch instead of staying with the S1

My sister in law brought her series 1 in and was told they are no longer servicing them. YMMV good luck

My old Apple Watch original is so badly beat up I just decided to keep it in the drawer at home. The battery died it has a crack across the crystal, the sides have been beat up, dented and scratched all up. I just went and got an Apple Watch series 8 GPS in space black.

The original I have is just kept for no real reason as a reminder of my time as an aviation mechanic before I retired 4 and half years ago. Last month the battery finally died and I saw no real reason to have it replaced. All the watch bands I have for the original also fit my series 8 and so I just continue on as the bands remind me of my first Apple Watch.

Personally for me, getting a screen and battery replacement on a watch worth less than £80 would not be worth it. I would imagine Apple will say the same too as the service cost will well exceed the watches value. You’ve more than got your monies worth so might be time to buy a series 7 or 8.

How’d it go? Were you able to get the battery replaced?

They said they could send it off and it would be $200 to do the battery and screen. I decided not to do it. Thank you for asking!!
