Taking Pictures from a Movie?

My mother and I were just talking yesterday and I was telling how I will be getting a Mac in the future.
I told her about when she gets her wedding video converted to a DVD, I told her I can do some stuff with it.

She was wondering that if I have a DVD, can I take something like a screenshot from the wedding video from the DVD to make it into a photo so it can be developed and put into an album?

It may sound confusing, but I wasn't sure how to answer her question, so I thought you guys would know! Windows movie editing doesn't do very good work.

Easily done, and you can even make a DVD that takes a snapshot mid video, while the sound keeps going and then it will continue on with the film, endless possibilites.
