Tap-to-click issue on Macbook Pro 16 with Monterey 12.0.1

I have been experiencing this issue with my trackpad. Sometimes it won’t register a tap so i need to tap again. Here is a thread in Reddit where people found the same issue:

I have this issue on my 14” mbp. Haven’t had a MacBook in a decade and I thought this is how the trackpads are now. I’ve been applying more force to try and get around it. Glad it’s an acknowledged issue though.

I also experience this exact same issue on my MBP 14 M1 Pro. This happens in messages.app, lot of clicks don't register, and I have to try multiple times for them to do. It's super annoying. Really hope this is a software bug that can be fixed. This problem doesn't seem to effect any other apps. I'm only experiencing this problem in messages.app
