I know it's in the trackpad section but I don't know the keyboard shortcuts in order to select it back on

If you can't click at all, you can navigate the trackpad options with the tab key, then press the space bar to select/deselect.

I tried that but the tab isn't working. It's staying on the search feature.

I tried that but the tab isn't working. It's staying on the search feature.

  1. Command-Tab to Finder
  2. Command-N for new Finder window
  3. Command-Up Arrow to Macintosh HD
  4. Command-Right Arrow to open Macintosh HD
  5. Down Arrow to Applications folder
  6. Command-Right Arrow to open Applications folder
  7. Down Arrow to System Preferences
  8. Command-Down Arrow to launch System Preferences
  9. Tab to Trackpad
  10. Space bar to open Trackpad pane
  11. Tab to "Tap to Click"
  12. Space bar to select "Tap to Click"

If the tab won't take you off the search window, type "Trackpad" and press enter

Can you type in the search window? If so, type "Trackpad" and it should give you search results, including one for Trackpad with a lighted circle around the icon. Use the down arrow to the Trackpad search result and press the enter key. What model Mac are you using?

Yeah I can type in the search and I can get up the trackpad section with it's tracking speed, double click speed and scrolling speed stuff and I can see the tap to click button but I can't get to it. The tab feature doesnt work for some reason it's staying in the search field. Using a 13.3 inch MacBook (couple years old) with latest everything (snow leopard)

Can you connect a mouse to click the option? What about using the trackpad buttons?

No mouse I'm afraid. I've been using the trackback buttons to try and click it but I can't. Annoying thing is I'm travelling at the moment and mac stores are not found here :(

I know this is a long shot, but have you tried restarting your Mac?

Do you have a removable battery on your notebook? Sometimes battery swelling makes the trackpad go awry.

If so, remove the battery (while plugged in of course) and see if your trackpad works.

Yup. Nothing.

Is there a default peferences code I could type into terminal? That's my only solution I can think of.

Removed battery and still same results. The trackpad didn't go funny I clicked tap to click off by mistake and can't get it back on
