I noticed my new 15 Pro doesn’t smoothly wake with a tap like my 12 Pro did - upon tapping the screen flashing like a dim black and then instantly goes to being awake instead of the smooth fade to the Lock Screen. I actually got 2 15 Pros and one wakes normally whereas the other doesn’t, unfortunately the one I want to keep is the one not waking properly. All phones are on iOS 17.1 with AOD turned off.

From googling I do see others who have had this issue with the 14 but no solutions on how to fix it. I’ve tried turning the phone on/off and a hard restart but it hasn’t helped. Has anyone experienced this and successfully fixed it?

Update: noticed this doesn’t happen with the stock wallpaper, just if you set your own photo. Can anyone in the beta confirm if this is still happening and report it?

I can confirm on my 15 pro that tap to wake fades in on my non-stock wallpaper

I know it sounds stupid but did you try restarting it? iPhones can have silly glitches like this and a restart usually fixes it

Just tried restarting again and the issue persists. This is a strange and annoying bug for something that should just work
