I have an iPad mini 5 and wondered what “wake” options were available so I didn’t have to use the home button. When searching in settings it returns “Tap to wake” under accessibility but I can’t actually find the setting for it to turn it on.

Does this actually exist or is this a bug? I’m using iOS 13.2.2.

I think only iPad Pro 2018 has it.

Ah so it’s a bug then, that shouldn’t be showing up on my iPad mini.

Thanks both.
Is the Tap to Wake toggle actually visible in Accessibility on your iPad? I have the iPad Air 3 and can find "Tap to Wake" in a search, but the actual toggle isn't present on my device. On my iPhone XR (no Home button) that toggle is located between Touch Accommodations and Shake to Undo.

Some cases automatically wake the iPad when they are opened.

Good point, these devices used to have an Apple smart case or cover on offer and get triggered when you remove the magnets from the cover sheet.

It may not be what the OP is looking for but maybe a step in the right direction.

My current one is not an Apple branded case and wakes the iPad without fail, so need not restrict the OP to a Smart Cover.

Of course any other case that takes the magnet setup idea from the Smart Cover will also have that functionality.

It doesn’t appear in the UI, just in the search but if the option isn’t available it shouldn’t be in search either. That’s not a good user experience.

Yeah, I do have a Smart Cover which does this, but sometimes I like to take it off some the iPad is without any bits attached to it.

Used to? They still do. There’s still an official Smart Cover for the Mini 5 (same one as the mini 4 since the dimensions haven’t changed) and tons or 3rd party smart cases.

Good catch, thank you. I think it was the smart cases that are not that common from Apple anymore.
