I’ve just seen this for first time after installing 26.1 on my M4 13” iPad Pro. It’s happened twice now, both times were after restarting the ipad. I have never used tab groups and have never enabled any setting that would launch every site within a folder to open in separate tabs. The first time it happened, I got a message on screen after tapping on a folder expecting it to just open showing the bookmarks within. However, the message said something like “open all 25 bookmarks in new tabs?” That time I just hit cancel, but it happened again when I tapped another folder; I decided to force quit Safari and the next time I tapped a folder it opened to the contained bookmarks within no weirdness.

Just now after restarting the ipad again, I tapped on a folder and got no message, but every bookmark within immediately loaded in new tabs. I used the tabs icon to close all 23 tabs. This didn’t happen on a subsequent tap on a folder but I may force quit Safari again anyway.

I had thought this may have been fixed in the RC 26.1 but every restart of the ipad brings it up again requiring another force quit. After that it doesn’t happen again till the next restart. In the image below, when this occurs, it happens when I tap on a bookmarks folder on the Favorites bar or on a folder in the main body of the Safari start screen shown in the first image. Doing that causes every bookmark contained in the folder to launch into new tabs instead of a list of bookmarks as it should, as shown in the second image.
