Target Disk Mode between G4 and MacBook to install Lion?

Hey!

So, I have an iMac G4 with the Lion installer app and a MacBook. I have read articles and realized that I can simply wipe the MacBook's drive, and then install clean (like I want to), but have a question- is it possible to boot the MacBook from the iMac by running the installer app off the iMac, or will the processor architectures not allow it? This is what I want to do;

-Connect the iMac to the MacBook via TDM
-Run the Installer.app off the iMac, obviously to the MacBook
-Start installation and the proceed to boot the MacBook from the installer.app off the iMac
-Open DU and erase the MacBook's HD from the booted-from Installer.app running off the iMac
-Finally, install Lion to the MacBook, from the iMac with the Installer.app

I don't see any issues with that, I have installed Lion via USB (a flash and external HDD), so I would assume firewire would work just as well.

It won't work. To install from the G4, it needs to be able to boot from the install package and as Lion is Intel only.

It can be done yes but is often a bit of a crap shoot as they say.

The results people have are all quite inconsistent but I have gotten it to work from a G4 tower to a 2007 white C2D MacBook. Your milage may vary since I have never attempted it with your hardware combo.

Why do people want to do things the hard way? whats wrong with burning a disc or if you macbook supports it which it should use a usb stick http://lifehacker.com/5823096/how-to-burn-your-own-lion-install-dvd-or-flash-drive Then once booted just use disc utility to format your HDD to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) let the installer run job done clean installation.
