So I went to Target and bought a Targus Chill Mat paid $24.99, here is what I found....
When you use it the proper way the temps are actually HIGHER than when I just leave my Macbook on the glass desk. I think since the fans blow air to the Macbook it causes the heat to get trapped and was around 142F. When the screensaver came on it would go up to around 155F
When I flipped the chill mat upside down and propped it up about 1/2 to 3/4 inch it cools it down to about 115 F - 117 F when just idling, when I use the Macbook it pops up to 122F or so, once the screensaver comes on it goes up to around 144F
Normal temps on glass were around 132F when not in use, so it does cool it down some when it sits idle, right now as I type this, with nothing open, it is at 117F.
With it propped I can feel the air escaping to the sides, probably like it should in the first place.
I may try to prop it up more, maybe an inch, I just have to get or find some type of small rubber legs.
