Tascam US-122L (Mac OS X 10.5.6) Weird Problems

I just bought a TASCAM US-122L Audio Interface and I'm having huge problems with it. I'm confused, because some apps work, some don't.

Computer Apple MacBook Early 2008 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory: 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Mac OS X Version 10.5.6.

TASCAM US-122L Firmware 1.12.
TASCAM US-122L Driver 1.12.

Here's a list of my findings so far:

1. QuickTime Player Pro Recording: will not record a new Audio Recording. As soon as I select it when TASCAM US-122L is the audio input device, QuickTime reports the following error:

OSStatus error 2003329396

QuickTime Player Version 7.6 (472), QuickTime Version 7.6.0 (1290)

2. Wiretap Studio will not record when TASCAM US-122L is the audio input device.

3. iMovie does not record voiceovers when TASCAM US-122L is the audio input device.

4. Garageband has no problems recording when TASCAM US-122L is the audio input device.

5. Adobe Flash Player crashes and brings down both Safari and Firefox when I try to switch audio sources in Ustream.tv Broadcast console.

6. iTunes will not play any tracks when TASCAM US-122L is the audio output device.

7. Cubase LE included with TASCAM US-122L will record and play audio when US-122L is both the input and output device.

8. I can patch US-122L to Soundflower 2ch via LineIn (Rouge Amoeba) and feed Soundflower into Adobe Flash Player for Ustream.tv.

I wonder if these problems are related to the TASCAM US-122L interface, specific apps or the operating system itself? I had no such problems with Behringer FCA-202 FireWire interface, but I needed an audio interface with mic preamps. I'll try Lexicon Alpha later this week and see if I run into the same problems.

I get the same error in quicktime but I can do voiceovers in iMovie.

Is your tascam setup as the default I/O ? Mine isn't, for example, the systems sounds come out of my macbook.

I just bought a Mac mini (MB138LL/A), 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 1GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300), Mac OS X Version 10.5.7

Using the TASCAM US-122L Audio Interface with driver v1.13 and firmware v1.12 I experience the same problem:

5. Adobe Flash Player crashes and brings down both Safari and Firefox when I select the TASCAM US-122L line-in in the settings menu of Flash. The website in which this occurs is www.singsnap.com (when you try to record a song)

I haven't tested the other situations yet


Have you found a solution to this problem already?


I keep on searching, but would very much appreciate help here...
