I have pretty much decided to go with the standard 11" with the 4GB RAM upgrade.

It will be shipped to California and I was hoping to get it on Amazon.com without having to pay sales tax but it looks like there will be tax.

Methods?

No sales tax for me when I add it to my cart and proceed to checkout on Amazon......

could you link me to the product page you found?

Just to be clear,I'm looking for the base cpu 11" with 64GB Flash and 4GB of RAM.

Ah, I see. It doesn't appear that Amazon is selling the 4GB version yet. I didn't notice that I added the 2GB version. There is a seller on Amazon selling the 4GB version, but it's a third party, and they're probably located in CA... hence the sales tax.

Technically, you're still supposed to pay the sales taxes when you file your state income taxes anyway ;)

hahaha, yeah right

Anyway, I guess Amazon will start selling the 4GB version eventually, right? Or does amazon never carry these custom apples?

No really, you are. Don't say I didn't warn you if you get audited. :p

Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

You should check out other Mac models that they sell to see if they sell those customized. My guess is no, but it may be different with the Air since they aren't easily customized by the buyer.

Anyone kowos where the Apple online store is shipping from ?
They do seem to charge tax for NY customers .

Almost everyone charges tax for NY customers. I think Newegg and PowerMax are two of the few that don't.

The sales tax we have to pay here is getting pretty crazy. It's practically 10% here in LA now and I wouldn't be surprised if it climbed another 2 to 12% in the near future. :(

12%? Here in the UK, VAT (Value added tax) is automatically applied to everything apart from very basics! (Fruit, veg etc.) It's 17.5% and going up to 20% in Jan :(
