I am shopping for a reliable 20-pin (or better) USB C or Thunderbolt magnetic adapter to use with 2020 MacBook Pro 13" with 4 TB ports. My own research led to no adapter being a perfect choice. Many Magsafe adapters sold on Amazon appear to be identical and marketed by different companies. ISKey - and others like it - obstruct the adjacent TB port. In addition, some alarming reviews with 1 star rating reported laptops being "fried".

I found three interesting options:
- www.magrig.com and but I could not find US distributors
- ThunderMag
- www.SnapNator.com; the Pro version looks like a good fit

What do you recommend? Any experience with the above 3 choices? Any other choices?

I would recommend avoiding them all. Unless things have changed when I last looked, none of these products are USB-IF Certified. Even worse, some of the shady Amazon sellers of these products have claimed IF Certification, when in fact they were NOT IF-Certified products. As much as I miss Mag Safe and as much as I wish Apple would have made some sort of USB-C Mag Safe device, the risk to me seems too great given bad USB-C power delivery devices can and have destroyed the devices they power (and obviously Apple/the rest of the industry is not and should not be obligated to repair their devices if they are damaged by a non-certified and non-OEM power delivery cable.) Sadly, many "professional reviewers" have in fact recommended USB-C products that were very risky to the devices they power, so they really aren't very reputable in this regard. Mag Rig looks exciting, but I would be hesitant to use it with my MacBook Pro until a later point in time.

@ght56, thanks for the feedback. I tend to agree with you. So far, no product has met expectations.
