Basically i'm looking for ways to boot my 960EVO SSD.
Currently its plugged in from USB3 enclosure directly to USBC port in my IMAC, which caused the TRIM to not work.
Just curious if i add a TB3 dock in between would the TRIM work?

I couldn't find any kind of portable 2.5" / NVMe sized TB3 enclosure on the market, and those that does .. comes with their own SSD (which I reckon, contains pretty low quality aftermarket NANDs)

I don't believe TRIM will work over USB at all -- at least, "not yet". Perhaps with USB4, when it gets here.

I've seen a couple of unsubstantiated reports of users who claimed they had USB3 hardware that supported TRIM, but no way to verify that -- I sense that they were "seeing something that wasn't there".

However, TRIM is not "that much of an issue" (with some drives no issue at all).
Leave sufficient "free space" at the "end" of the drive (15-20%) and you should see no ill-effects.

Are you booting from the drive in question?
Or... is it just used "for storage" (no OS on it)?

Something to do:
Use BlackMagic Speed Test to run benchmarks on the USB3 drive TODAY.
Take a screenshot and put these results somewhere safe.
In 6 months, run the test again and compare.
How do the results compare then...?
