Dear all,
I am new with Mac OS. I am happy to have switched from Windows to Mac, but on one topic I have some questions: I am always busy with GPS/Nautical software/apps which needs NMEA data. Under Windows this is handled either by (virtual) COM ports or TCP/UDP data streams. As Mac's don't work with COM ports I am struggling to get for example OpenCPN working to receive a NMEA data stream over TCP. Now I finally got it working with the help of app MultiCom. This app is able to handle TCP data and forward it for example "serial" and Pseudo Terminal. Using the Preudo Terminal I got it working, but I have really no idea why it does work. Could someone assist me in this matter? How can I get OpenCPN to receive a TCP data stream?
I have seen "remtty-0.2" which could do the job(?), but I don't know how to install such apps: The instructions are:
Installation is straightforward:
./configure
make
make install
Thanks for any help.
