I’ve got some troubleshooting to do with a product coming up in about 30 minutes. He wants to use TeamViewer. I’ve never used it before. It seems very invasive. I’m supposed to give him my user ID abs password. WTF? Is this safe?

No, you don't give anybody your username and password. When the host starts TeamViewer, it generates a meeting ID and a password. These are what gets communicated to the person who's connecting to the host.

I use TeamViewer regularly on macOS help friends with their Windows issues. No problems whatsoever.

I'm assuming this is your Mac user ID and password that's being requested? Ask him what he thinks he needs it for...

If you're connecting to his machine (he's the host), you need the meeting ID and password. If he's connecting to you (you're the host), you start TeamViewer as a host and give the meeting ID and password to him. In either case, you don't need to give him your Mac user ID/password.

I see. The user name and password TV generates for you. Got it. And it went smoothly. How do I make sure he no longer can have access?

He already doesn't have it — each time you launch TeamViewer, a new password gets generated. You can also click the little refresh button to have a new one again:
