I don't know if this has been mentioned in the long discussions, but a thought occurred to me regarding the engineering behind a full-screen iPod.

It is my understanding that the interior of the iPod is pretty crammed, and that the screen dominates the top half due to it's thickness. If the screen were to be enlarged to cove the whole front, would it make the iPod automatically thicker? Granted, they don't have the click wheel, but I didn't think that ran very deep anyway, at least not as deep as the LCD.

All the 'spy shots' we've seen so far have shown devices no thicker than the amazingly thin 5g iPods. Between the larger screen and the need for a larger battery, (unless they go back to 8 hours like the 3Gs) a full screen iPod would have to be thicker. So unless there is something I'm not thinking of, that fact invalidates all the spy shots so far because they show super thin devices.
