They do increase the memory from each initial iPhone launch, so who knows. (4/8 2G, 8/16 3G, 16/32 3GS, maybe 32/64 4G?)

IF true, that would be sweet! I like taking plenty of music and movies when I travel and having multiple devices to pass through airport security is not much fun. Being able to consolidate would be great!:)

I only hope it's true because that way the 32gb will be the cheaper model. That's all I need.

I'll admit that this would be nice, but I suspect not, for a number of reasons:
1) The price of the 64GB chips (the iPod/iPad uses 2 chips, the iPhone doesn't have space)
2) They seem to be delineating between the primary features of devices. The iPods/iPad are there primarily to play media (iPad has a few extra things, but the media is one of the biggest things), the iPhone is designed as a phone, with a bit of storage, if you want to take music around with you. It's not the primary function.

Yes, that's my hope, too. It'd be great if I could get an early upgrade to a 32 GB iPhone 4 for $399. I could then probably cover the entire cost of my upgrade with the sale of my 32 GB 3GS.

I bet the iPhone stays at 16/32 for now so as not to make the 64GB iPad look "small" in terms of capacity. I do think they'll drop the 8GB model, though.
