Hi,

Is my phone defect or is the stabilization of the telelens on the iPhone 13 pro way worse than both iPhone 11 pro and 12 pro?

Video is perfect, but in photomode does it engage slower and does not stabilize as much as earlier iPhones.
(Video probably because the digital stabilization compensate)

It is only the tele and the wide and ultra wide is superb.

Br,
Morten

I don't have mine yet, and I never had an 11 or 12 (I'm coming from a 7), so I can't help with the direct comparison you're looking for. However, one possible explanation is that the extra focal length (magnification) is simply making the same stabiliser less effective. In the same way on a conventional camera, if you change from a 35mm to a 70mm lens, you'll need a faster shutter speed to freeze the same amount of hand shake. Maybe there's a limit to how much stabilisation is possible in the space they have available.

Hopefully someone with experience of both the 13 pro and an 11/12 will be along soon!

Whats the issue? blurry photos? The tele lens has a significantly slower aperture than the wide and UW. Combined with a longer focal length and in lower light, you have to have a real steady hand.

Try hold a older iphone and a 13 pro in the same hand and start the photo app with 3x zoom.
On my iPhone does the new shake a lot more / easier than the old phones. :/
