Telephone Icon?

when i purchased the macbook pro 17" it came pre installed with SL, i saw a Telephone Receiver Icon on Menu Bar (top right corner), i don't know what was its used, but after doing clean installation of Lion its not there,
Please tell me what that icon is for and why its not available in LION.
