Teminal Help

So, terminal won't let me open a command prompt. I got an error message say something like "You don't have permission to open this. Go to Finder>File>Get info. I checked on my permissions and I am listed as R/W. I am also the computers administrator. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Please help!
