Ok a couple of things. I am only referring to IPad 3's that are on Verizon and are having 3G service going in and out..

I have been doing much research with this issue. Tried 6 iPads and different SIM's and telephone numbers to try and track down the issue. Here is what I have found with each one that has the same problem...

Though out my testing, I have found that if you are in a 3G ONLY coverage area but have the 4gLTE feature turned "on" in the iPad, you will see random drop out of the 3G signal and then it will come back on. Creating errors like "no data connection or cellular connection" If you have this issue, you should be able to fix it by turning off the 4GLTE setting in the iPad. Once I did that, there were no more signal dropouts! Solid 3G signal!

It is a pain, because now when I travel to areas I know have 4G and want to use it, I have to turn the 4GLTE setting to "on". Then, when I go back to 3G only areas, I have to turn the 4GLTE setting to "OFF" to keep the random 3G connection issues from happening.

Hope this helps!
