And what parts of the MacBook are the most important when checking temperature?

istat pro is used by a lot of people to monitor cpu temp etc.

Just get iStat. It'll do all you want and more.

If you just want a simple temperature widget try MiniStat. Personally, I prefer this to iStat pro.
