Apple began offering free apps, books, and music via its Apple Store app back in August, and today the company has made hit endless running game Temple Run: Oz available at no cost.

Normally priced at $0.99, Temple Run: Oz was created through a partnership between developer Imangi and Disney to promote the "Oz the Great and Powerful" movie. Like other Temple Run games, Oz is an endless runner that takes advantage of power ups. It is set in the land of Oz and includes special features like hot-air balloon flying.
Temple Run: Oz is the exhilarating sequel to the classic game, based on the film Oz the Great and Powerful. In this game you'll run, fly, an slide across the yellow brick road.
Previous free content offered through the Apple Store app has included Color Zen, Away in My Airplane, and six free iTunes Festival song downloads.

The Apple Store app can be downloaded from the App Store for free [Direct Link] and Temple Run: Oz, which is universal, can be downloaded by tapping on the icon in the "Featured" section of the Apple Store app. According to the Apple Store description, Oz will be available until November 15.

Worked for me. You do have to go to the link directly from inside of the Apple Store app for it to work though of course. It then redeems a code that allows the free download.

Worked for me too. Go to the Apple store app on your iPhone, tap on the promotion, it will launch the app store to redeem a code, and then a free download will be shown.

Worked for me as well. Awesome, another reason for my kids to want to borrow my phone non stop!

Okay works now. Thanks. :)

WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW.

I mean, sure, we all know that Temple Run is like old news now, but this is ABSOLUTELY stunning. And I love how you have the second gameplay of traveling with the balloon and trying to steer away from the crystals.

Beautiful visuals, definitely much more pleasing than Temple Run 2's.

I hope that they add 512MB support on Windows Phone, I definitely like it enough to buy twice.

I get "Your request produced an error" message. Tried several times.

Same thing here. Tried multiple times and keep getting the same error message. Even tried to log out of iTunes on the phone and log back in. No dice. #

The replies in this thread make me think that schools should probably put a little more focus on reading comprehension.

Yeah it's chargeable and not free for me either.

You need the "Apple Store" app, not to be confused with the "App Store" app ;)

Worked for me, thanks MR, I always forget to check if new freebies are out for it.

I must say I much prefer this one to Temple Run 2.

I agree this is what Temple Run 2 should have been like!

if it's like Temple Run 2 it's a boring, difficult game fueled by IAP for power-ups to make it more enjoyable. not my idea of fun, but...

Some of the confusion and arrogant troll smugness could result from stringent "Restrictions" enabled. For me I don't think it was that in-app purchases were disabled, but switching them all off enabled the link from Apple Store to App Store to go live with a Redemption Code dialogue. YMMV

My issue is that it's a known title and a year old. How about giving something folks don't likely already have. Same with the freebies in the store app
