Temporary number has changed iMessage and FaceTime to it and will not change back

Hi Guys!

So I ordered a new SIM Only Contract from 3 and was moving my old number from EE (problem should be the same with US carriers). They therefore gave me a temporary number for around 3 days with the new SIM I received and it has added this to the iMessage list. Now they have transferred the number, my old number (which I want) works for normal messaging however when I iMessage, it sends it from my temporary number and won't change. Is there a way of changing this or is it up to the carrier? Also, when I go into the phone app, the bit at the top says that my number is the temporary number...

Are you sure it ported? Try to turn off iMessage & Facetime. And turn them on again. Try to reset the iPhone as well.

turn off imessage/facebook and turn it back on. log out of apple id and log back in.

This happens to me all the time when i put in different sims.
