On the PB G4 12" 1.5Ghz , HTML5 VP8 360p Youtube playback smooth once buffered, even better with MSE WebM/VP9 enabled and this on "Better Battery Life" on WiFi.

Are you running tweaks, add ons etc?
I have tweaked config plus Bluhell and NoScript, however my results are abysmal. Both 17" 1.67 and 12" 1.5 Powerbooks are slide showing for nearly a minute before playback settles (with or without MSE) on 360P. 17" handles it's own CPU rating but the 12" is set to highest - in both cases, CPU between 95-100%.
This is exactly the same performance I had in FPR4 too...maybe the optimal code benefits multi-processors only?

I remembered that eyoungren once posted that Hack5190's user.js preference file also disabled some of the media things.
Thus I removed my user.js file, disabled Viewtube (GreaseMonkey doesn't work anymore anyhow) and have to disable uMatrix also ( or the Youtube page won't load completely), only Bluhell is active.

I have to let the page load , then buffer the video a bit and indeed on "Better Battery Life" CPU goes to 95%-100% but at least I can watch a smooth Youtube video, before it was so out of sync that I resorted to SMTube or LWK.

[doublepost=1514631137][/doublepost]Just tried on my G5 but just like TFF FP4 it doesn't allow for HTML5 playback in Youtube , no VP8 or Webm/VP9 .

Disabling NoScript has slightly improved performance but playback on reduced CPU setting is still a non-starter for me. Greasemonkey/Viewtube still working for me (have you updated the script?) - that and/or Hooktube plus Mplayer brings 360P Youtube online quicker than buffering in a browser and at 30-40% CPU....that's of course, when I'm not using SMTube :)

Strange, works fine on my G5 iMac.

Viewtube was updated.

On your G5 TFF works without Viewtube or QTE ? What settings are enabled when you got to www.youtube.com/html5 ?

Even in LWK I cannot browse Youtube anymore on my G5 , Ninjakit doesn't work, HTML playback neither.

Really frustrating since it's the fastest machine in my PPC park but can't even play Youtube natively in a browser anymore,
might be Youtube which changed their playback ?

That's with MSE selected in TFF prefs - I usually turn them off as playback is better but Youtube plays either way and no, that's standard, not with Viewtube or QTE.

Ninjakit kit still working for me on Powerbook (not installed on G5s) - best Youtube browser out the box though is Roccat (not linked to LWK) but it is crashy.

I'm going to delete my TFF so I'm sure that I'm using a clean install .

Thanks for your input and Best Wishes up front for 2018 !
