Been working with Apple's built in sandbox feature of Leopard in a (poor) attempt to do something similar. With TenFourFoxBox I now have a Gmail app (aka: Mailplane).

Thanks for pointing us to this, it's a good idea and will allow me to focus on some of my other PPC ideas...

One user on that linked page said he was waiting to buy "the ARM based MacBook".
I applaud his patience, if also detest his ignorance.

My apologies if anyone's already posted about this but check out the latest bit of PPC life support wizardry from the TenFourFox developer:

This is the same principle as Fluid offered ie a site specific browser low on resources - difference being is this is happening now and it works on Tiger too!
Interesting, but I didn't give it a try yet...
Currently I'm happy with "WebKit for Tiger" on my Clamshell and "WebKit for Leopard" for the rest (thanks to this forum).
"WebKit for Tiger" is also provided by the developer(s) of Ten4Fox - so many Kudos into their direction.

This works great on my iBook G4!
Especially facebook seems to load much quicker in a box.

Thanks for posting the info!

I tried it and it didn't like a long URL from wunderground, but once I cut it down enough it worked. I just had to navigate some to get where I wanted. Nice option to have; thanks!

I noted that some people who commented on Kaiser's post wanted to use TFB with a re-named version of the TFF but it threw them an error. I found a fix if any of you guys are those people.

The first picture shows my Dock with TFF called "Firefox" to match the icon.

This error will occur when TFF's name does not match up with the expected name in TFB

To fix this, a little poking around is required.

Step 1. Open your Applications folder and find TFB, right click it, choose "Show Package Contents"

Step 2. Click Contents>Mac OS> Right click "foxbox" and Open With TextEdit

Step 3. Once in TextEdit, find you specific version of TFF based on you architecture. In my case, it was "TenFourFox7450". Once found, change "TenFourFoxXXXX" to the name you have set for the Application. I changed mine to Firefox

Step 4. Save and exit, reopen TFB and it will Launch!

Step 5. Even though TFB launches, once a FoxBox is created, it will not run. The FoxBox works the same way, expecting a certain name of TFF that is not there.

Step 6. Follow the same procedure listed above to get the Fox Box to open.

Step 7. You're done! TFB now works with custom named TFF apps!

I like the fact that it works on Tiger, just wish there was some way to block the ads in Tiger which can make for a less then optimal browsing experience.
