Apple has posted an update to the Machine Learning framework TensorFlow that utilizes the CPU and GPU cores on the M1 chip and runs on Intel. Performance is about 10X higher on the M1. This is great news since MacOS has not supported GPU acceleration on Macs since the days of Nvidia GPUs.

This article covers the basics and references Apple repo with the driver updates.

I can't wait for my MacBook Air M1 to arrive and compare how well it does at training ML models against my 9900K intel desktop with Nvidia RTX 2070.
