Why doesn't the delete key above the arrow keys work on the console? I get a tilde and a dull beep when I press it.

How does one move the cursor to the end of the typed text to fix typos? (END does not work, nor does control+right arrow). Must I suffer through every character with the right arrow key?

The other delete key (aka backspace) works fine, but only on characters to th e left of the cursor.

Thanks, Todd

I've forgotten all of the combinations, but control + A will get you to the beginning of the text string and control + D will delete the character to the right.

It could of course, be dependent on the shell that's active so you should try the combinations to see what works. Consider that the original computer terminals didn't have arrow keys, page keys, and so on.

OK, thanks. Control+A gets you to the start of input. Control+D deletes a character. Control+E gets me to the end of the line.

I'm getting the BASH shell.
