I was receiving a 'Could not find layout General Audio 10' error in GarageBand. I went to Apple Discussions, found the thread GarageBand 10.0.3 error "Could not find layout General Audio 10" when choosing vocal patch and tried this person's suggestion.
That was a mistake.
The problem is, and from reading other similar complaints elsewhere, the downloading content doesn't seem to actually download. It'll start with 'About 3 hours' or 'About 2 hours,' yet an hour later it is still 'About 3 hours' or 'About 2 hours.' With GarageBand open for an hour, with the download open and in "progress," contributes significantly to the MacBook Pro overheating. I can't let GarageBand remain open for hours downloading the content (that likely won't start or finish downloading anyway,) my MacBook Pro would be toast. The other main problem is, there is no cancel option for the download, you're able to only quit GarageBand and that cancels the download but when you open GarageBand again it automatically starts downloading again.
It is ****ing retarded, I'm very frustrated at Apple.
I can't use GarageBand because the stupid download isn't downloading and my MacBook Pro rapidly starts overheating after less than 1 hour of GarageBand use, primarily because of the download that doesn't download. It's very frustrating.
Is there any Terminal command that would cancel the download? Either completely so it doesn't automatically start again when I open GarageBand, or each time when I open GarageBand, run the Terminal command to simply cancel right away?
I was having the same problem but I selected the "Garageband" drop down while I had a project open and selected both "Restore Sound Library" and then "Update Sound Library" and after those were complete I'm good to go!
