I idle many IRC channels daily, along with a SILC channel, but I do this by ssh'ing into remote servers.

I'll be on irssi for anywhere between 20 minutes to several days, when all of a sudden, irssi on the remote server will freeze. All the keys are completely locked.

Oddly, I can still use C-a a or whatever, and GNU screen will be totally responsive. This happens on multiple servers.

I have no idea where to even start. I've checked Google extensively, and I hope this is a simple fix.

You're not inadvertently pausing the screen session by pressing either ^S (will freeze the entire screen session) or ^A-S (will freeze the single screen that's active), are you?

Edit: I suppose I should add if you are, then use ^Q or ^A-Q to unpause.

Negative.

I've tried the ^Q and ^A-Q thing, to no avail. :(

This is interesting: http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?15354 - it completely describes my problem.
