I see that we still can only upvote posts and not downvote.

The stupid in-thread advertisements are still there, terrible as they were the day they arrived.

I suppose these things are here to stay, despite the hate?
 
Ads are a feature of all web sites, they generate the revenue required to keep MR running. If you find them that annoying read the FAQ about contribution.

The up vote down vote debate has been done to death In my opnion, personally I don't up or down vote other peoples posts and don't feel the need to. An appropriate intelligent reply is better than just hitting a button.

The debate continued for so long that the thread was eventually closed, but not until members had had a considerable amount of time to discuss, the discussion was deemed to have gone in circles for a while, and the site owner had given his input.
