Terrible service from Apple. Battery showing health as 77% so Genius Bar appointment made in Aberdeen in order to replace battery. Told that the watch had failed a diagnostic test with a fault re compass not detected. Only option given was to buy new watch or get battery and repair done for £300 approx. I declined both options and went home where I did some research and found the Series 4 does not have a compass. I then spent over 1.5 hours on the phone and eventually a lady in Singapore assured me I could get the battery service for £95 at Aberdeen where she made another Genius Bar appointment for me. On this second appointment I was told that the watch was not supported any more due to its age (6.5 years) and that it could not be serviced with a new battery as the parts were not made any more. I had made 2 trips from home totaling 5 hours and was refused any compensation by the manager. The Watch app on my phone still states that servicing is available for my watch. It would appear that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

it’s been quoted a thousand times on this forum they don’t change the battery often a refurbished replacement is offered but im guessing an S4 stock or refurbished stock is depleted that said it’s quite common to hear similar outcome to yours these days . days are gone when customer service was about customer satisfaction or offering a solution that is justified but we are in a time when your purchase is worthless in terms of after sales services for these disposable products because end of the day thats all they are sadly one way or another. good luck in your venture to resolve.

I'm well aware that they don't replace the battery but from my initial contact with Apple I should have been told that the watch was vintage. That would have saved endless misleading information and wasted travel/phone time.

sorry im not patronizing you or saying anything your unaware of . its just today customer services are abysmal its not unique to apple any product thats no longer in production or current there will be an element of luck in resolving to your benefit without costs or compromises. as above good luck in resolving . fwiw i had a brand new pair of airpods pro 2 in apple store which refused to pair only one would pair i returned them an hour after purchase only to be told they would have to send them on to service department, a month later i received them without any explanation they were the same ones whilst it was resolved one would expect a straight forward simple exchange on the day as they were less than an hour old but sadly it was a case of waiting. as above customer services are abysmal its the new normal.good luck. ps there used to be a retail phrase in the UK “the customer is always right” don’t think that’s valid anymore anywhere
