Should the phone ring with the LCD and Digitizer disconncected?
Should the vibrator work with the LCD and Digiter disconnected?
Should the screen light up with only the 1st and 3rd cable connected?
When connected to itunes without the Screen and LCD will you get any messages?

Presently I get nothing,

I have 5 i purchased at a auction and trying to quickly determine the problems with them.

Yes, but there is most likely no SIM or it is inactive.
Yes, when it turns on it should vibrate.
Just #1 controls the LCD(#3 is the proximity and speaker).
You will see a loading/syncing/connecting spinner next to the iPhone name in the left hand column. If it is in recovery mode you will receive a message.

look newbie why would you answer a question that is 11 months old? no reason to restart this thread or most others
