hello everyone, i've recently had a weird issue with my iPhone 3GS. i'm pretty familiar with how the jailbreaking process works.
it was originally on official 4.1, then i tethered jailbroke it to iPhone2,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw using redsn0w 0.9.9b5
and then i accidentally let the iPhone die.
since then, it has forever stayed on a black screen. when plugged into the wall, nothing- no connect sound from 3GS or battery charging screen. when plugged into the computer, nothing- same as above, and also no iTunes detection.
i tried to run the originally used redsn0w 0.9.9b5 and the newer 0.9.10b1 using the "just boot tethered" option, i followed the exact instructions with it's built in timer, it says it doesn't detect anything in DFU mode.
i have also tried the following:
holding down power + home for 10 seconds > just home for 10 sec- nothing.
holding down power for 3 sec > power + home for 10 sec > just home for 10 sec- nothing.
(for counting purposes, i am using a timer instead of counting in my head.)
i am currently draining the battery by not using it. it's a week today where it hasn't been plugged into anything. i hope to wait a bit longer to totally drain the battery, then plug it in and see if anything is detected.
also found this video on YouTube where someone has the same thing happening to him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6ej5VlCfTM
until then does anyone have any suggestions?
