Tethered iPhone 4, connect another device via wifi or bluetooth?

Hi all,

I want to connect my iPhone4 via usb and use personal hotspot for the MBP, and also connect iPad via WiFi or Bluetooth. Possible? Does it matter whether iPad is connected WiFi or Bluetooth?
