iPod touch tethered jailbreak

i just bought a latest iPod and i'd like to jailbreak it. i updated it to 5.1 before i knew that the only available jailbreak for this version is tethered.

if the untethered jailbreak is coming soon is there any reason i should just wait for it...or should i go ahead and try out the tethered?

so if i jailbreak tethered will i run into problems switching over when the untethered jb comes out or will it be pretty simple to switch over?

Usually one can run an untether JB over a tether JB

There is no untether JB for 5.1 although there may be a 5.1 tethered JB out.

Only advantage is that an untethered JB is more stable, if you don't mind a few app crashes and lag every now and then, it would be best to just tether jailbreak it and then run the untether JB over it whenever it comes out.
