Since some apps aren't allowed not the AppStore for various reasons, developers have gotten around this for GBA4iOS or cartoon hd. My question is why aren't there any apps like this that provide tethering? Does anyone know? I know that a lot of people want apps like this but they aren't on the AppStore.

2 reasons:

1. Those who have enough of a data plan to tether already get the personal hotspot for free.

2. Those who can't afford a data plan that size couldn't afford to tether to begin with.

My 6GB data plan includes a free personal hotspot.

Ah ok. I see the logic. I'm just wondering because I know whenever an app that has this hidden inside it, people are really quick to jump an download it.
I do have tethering included on my data plan though.

It's one thing to sneak a NES emulator onto the AppStore but you can't hide data usage from a carrier

This may be true in the USA, but over here in good old OZ, data is relatively cheap. And to not be able to hotspot, well you'd be laughed at....

That's funny to hear because a lot of users on this forum cry about how expensive data is in Europe compared to the US.

I know that Americans are not noted for their geographical knowledge, but Oz (Australia) isn't in Europe - it's about 5000 miles away.

On a more sensible note, the issue that most Europeans have with data usage is that, while using data in their own country with their own service provider is quite reasonable, the moment they roam it gets very expensive. The European authorities are banning excessive charges from some time next year, but it will still cost a lot to use data when outside Europe.

Thank goodness for hotels with free WiFi!

Hotel wifi is usually terrible. I usually don't bother.

I'm quite aware that Australia is not in Europe :p

I also know Aussies dont like being mistaken for Kiwis.

Are non-American's not noted for reading things a bit more carefully and perhaps seeing what the post might really be about. Lots of pointless American bashing seems to be surfacing here out of nowhere really.

I respectfully disagree. All of the Aussies I know are from a different planet! ;)
