Tethering not working :(

Hello macrumor world!

Well, as the title says, I am having trouble tethering. It seems my MacBook will not share connection with my iPhone. I tried a reset of both my iPhone and MacBook, I reinstalled the carrier file for tethering and still no luck. I am currently using a 3gs with fw 3.0.

The hotel I am at has off and on Internet. I am downloading the update at 3 Kbps.... Any other suggestions or similar problems? Thank you!:):p
