Tethering now works on my 3GS UK O2 Pay and Go - how come?

Since upgrading to iOS4, tethering has worked on my 3GS. I'm on O2 Pay and Go and am not jailbroken or anything like that. Is it supposed to be working? Will it stay working?!

EDIT: Have just found a thread mentioning that this is the case for everyone. Am still curious as to whether it's policy or mistake...
