I have an old iMac G4 that I'd like to tether on, cheaper than a airport card ya know. Not that it matters, but I did the sinful repo tether hack.

How do I add my iPhone to the list of network devices?

Is this even possible?

Bad news I think.
If you don't have an Airport card, I doubt you have Bluetooth either...

Tethering via USB requires OS X 10.5.7 and higher
Tethering via Bluetooth requires OS X 10.4.11 and higher

Once tethering is turned on on your iPhone connected via USB to your Mac, you automatically get a pop-up notification telling you about a new network interface being available and open up Network preferences.
