Since a great Macrumors user gave me the great idea of using my iPhone to tether for my iIpad's internet narrowing down my choice between wifi and LTE. However, does your AT&T plan have to have tethering or is it part of the iPhone plan?

I believe ATT makes you pay extra for tethering, I'm with Verizon where you get tether free with all new plans.

If you're on the newer Mobile Share plans, tethering is included. I regularly tether my iPad to my iPhone, and save the crazy premium for the LTE iPad.

Chatted with an AT&T rep and they said I have great unlimited plan not available to new customers anymore. I guess the question remains how much do I really need LTE I my iPad?
