I'm assuming the answer is yes...but I just want to make sure.

With the Verizon hotspot feature, can I tether my old iPad 2 3G to the new iPad? Seems like it would be nice for my wife and I to share one data plan among two iPads.

Yes. You should be able to tether up to 5 iPads.

But you have to be around the iPad with the data plan at all times when you want to use the net (minus WiFi)...
