After jailbreaking and installing mywi, I went to my network settings and I now have the option to tether. Can I uninstall mywi and tether this way.

You should try it out and let us know. You can always reinstall mywi

OP - If you uninstall miwi (through cydia or rock) it will also remove the tethering hack.

If you delete the application via SSH though, you will keep the setting.

Question is, why would anyone want to delete MyWi in the first place and lose the hotspot capability?

Well they might, like me only need bluetooth, as their computer supports it. Haven't needed to attach more than 1 device though, and don't have an ipad, so obviously i'm a limited user.

This might explain why I have the tethering option in Network Settings. I didn't know MyWi did that.

Yes, MyWi enables native tethering also.
Alot of people were installing the Mywi trial and after removing it the native tethering worked.
I still like Mywi better over the native tethering cause of wifi tethering that the stock OS doesnt provide.
