Hi.

Wanted to share my experience between the two methods on Tethering with AT&T.
I didn't have the need to test the ipcc method as PDAnet 1.53 works very well. However here are my observations.

Tethered using PDAnet observations:
* 1.8 Mb/s Download / 0.16 Mb/s Upload
* Local Area Connection shows 2.4 MB/s
* Cisco VPN Connects/tested
* iPhone remains relatively cool

Tethered using internal modified ipcc file.
* 0.55 Mb/s / 0.16 Mb/s Upload
* Local Area Connection shows 500 Kbps
* Cisco VPN Connects fine/tested
* iPhone gets relatively warmer.

I would like others to articulate the temperature readings.
cheers.

Hi thank you for reporting this. I know it's a few months old but I did a search on VPN and PdaNet, and this is the newest the rest are over a year old.

Here's my question:
To avoid AT&T noticing, how can I make a VPN connection from the iPhone before setting up the tether? So they see the amount of traffic, but not the content. For all they know, it could be a network-hungry iPhone application.

In other words could someone mention the few steps to make this happen?

I'd like to see this as well. So far, I've been completely unable to find anything as I'm not familiar with setting up vpns.
