Text alert while using the phone, Is this a bug??

When I'm on a phone call and receive a text the entire tone plays in the background, at one time I had a music clip as a text tone but it would play for 30 seconds and interrupt a phone call, had to change it back to a regular tone but it's still annoying while talking, can't find a setting to keep it fom happening?
